Listening Room is a monthly series presented by Ic3y Mag inside Foil Gallery’s immersive space. Each session invites guests to experience a full album from beginning to end, together and without distraction. For this edition, we enter Reality Awaits by The Strokes. Twenty-five years after Is This It redefined indie rock, The Strokes return with Reality Awaits, an album that refuses to live in the shadow of its legacy. Blending wiry guitars, New Wave melodies, glam rock flourishes, and unexpected vocal experimentation, the band pushes its sound into stranger territory while holding onto the chemistry that made them iconic. Across the record, Julian Casablancas shifts between swagger, vulnerability, and playful unpredictability, while the unmistakable guitar interplay of Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr. remains at the heart of the album. Reality Awaits balances nostalgia with reinvention, embracing bold risks that make it one of the band's most adventurous and polarizing releases to date.
